The Big 5 Kayak Challenge

I am away in Alaska paddling from Prince Rupert to hopefully 2 days North of Petersberg for the next two weeks. The Inside Passage is a famous route used by boats to try and avoid the worst of the Pacific waves smashing into the Alaskan coast. Hopefully plenty of whale sittings but not to many bears!!!
I would be very greatful if you could spare a few quid towards the great causes we are raising money for, it can all be done online through the just giving link on the site, please take a bit of time to look at the website here.
We managed to get across to the Isles of Scilly at the start of May  - quite a long day. We had to launch from about 6 miles East of Lands End so added a good hours paddle to the already long trip. Well worth it though what a fantastic sea kayak destination.
Thanks Ollie

Sea Kayak gang trips

Next SK gang trip will be 12th July, the 6th June was a fantastic trip and all participants had a great time and went home feeling good that they had been in some biggish water!

Suitable for intermediate paddlers looking to become more independent. Please see here for more info.

So far this year we have paddled Flamborough head, St Abbs (in big seas), The farne Islands, a trip round the Inches on the Forth, visited Bass rock and paddled from Berwick to Burnmouth and back. We have also paddled on the West coast at Easter. Under the connel bridge and the Garvellachs so plenty going on!!

Wildlife encounters include Porpoise, bottle nosed Dolphins, Sea Eagle, and plenty of seals.

Please Email for further info or to book a place

Learning to Sea Kayak

Over the last few years we have run a number of successful beginner sea kayak courses in the late spring and summer time. We are going to change it slightly this year with the addition of an introduction to sea kayaking day, for complete novices.

The beginner’s course for 2009 will now be a two day course (18th & 24th July) and will only be available to people with some experience of kayaking or people who have done an intro day with Active4seasons. Intro days will run in the summer hols when the water is warmer. For more details please click on the dates or if you fancy doing an intro day please register your interest by email.

Please get in touch if you are interested in attending any future courses.

River days

Anyone who wants to know more about how to use the river safely.
4 people took part in the last river training session on the Apr 25th. They all did very well and went away quite tired but far more knowledgable about the river and also more confident in their ability to paddle on it, well done all of you.

Please email me if you want to book a session once you can find a free day in the calendar. We like to work with a maximum of four on each day so book early to avoid disappointment.

General information

As well as providing sheduled guided trips and training we also offer bespoke (made to measure) trips and coaching so please check out the available dates in the calendar section, weekends and holidays generally but please email with your requirements. See below for some ideas, thanks

Develop your skills

Develop your skills

People learn in different ways and we cater for this by running bespoke courses that are tailored to the needs of the learner. Courses do not necessary stick to a pre-determined syllabus and this allows us to maximise the learning process. To be able to do this we keep ratios low.

Active4seasons have plenty of experience and knowledge of the local area and will therefore be able to provide you with a safe and suitable route/ location for you, whatever your level of experience.

When looking for coaching or hiring a guide it is essential that their level of qualifications and their experience is verified. It is also vital to check that they have a current public liability insurance certificate (normally up to £5 million).

You can rest assured that Active4seasons takes its responsibility for Health and Safety very seriously.

Hassle free outdoor adventure for all the family...

Hassle free outdoor adventure for all the family...

...a quiet relaxing day on the beautiful river Tweed. North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders are the perfect locations to get out to see the wonderful environment we live in.

There are many misconceptions about outdoor adventure. Whilst introducing activities at a low level the risks are minimal and the general area is ideal to experience outdoor activities for the first time. It is also a great area to discover wilderness (it is not called ‘The Secret Kingdom’ for nothing) for those who are more experienced, there are loads of wonderfully quiet areas to be discovered. We have a fantastic coastline of International importance with thousands of sea birds and grey seals, occasional visitors include Basking shark, Minki whales, Dolphins and Porpoise.

A question often asked is:
"Is it safe?" Answer: Far safer than driving on a dual carriageway, and some people do that everyday without a blink of an eye!

Looking for new Outdoor Equipment?

We have accounts with a few equipment providers. If you are a past or current client looking for anything from paddling wear to camping gear please get in touch and I can give you a quote.
